The Trump family has been hit hard by the storm after a series of false claims about their health.

(Getty Images) A new poll suggests the couple is not far from the polls, and that the Republican presidential nominee is ahead of Democrat Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical matchup.

The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, conducted by ORC International for the US Presidential Election Studies Institute, shows that 52% of voters have a favourable opinion of the Trumps, while 41% have a negative opinion.

This is compared to 37% who have an unfavorable opinion.

However, the survey found that just 20% of those who view the Tramps favourably think the couple would be a strong presidential candidate, compared to 60% who view them unfavourably.

This contrasts to the 44% of Republicans who have a positive view of the couple, compared with 53% who hold an unfavorable view.

Trump has been repeatedly accused of lying about his wife’s health and her recovery.

He said during the 2016 election campaign that he would not release his wife because she had been “banned” from her job as a receptionist in New Hampshire because she was pregnant.

The couple have a history of controversy surrounding their marriage.

They were married for almost 20 years and divorced in 2010, but have been together since the end of their marriage in 1996.

The Trumps have two children, one son and one daughter.
